I recently spent two weeks at Bethel Church in Redding, California, at their annual WorshipU conference. I went there thinking that I'd learn some great and valuable things about leading a worship team and stuff like that, which as a worship pastor is very important, but I came away from it having gotten so much more out of it on a personal level as a worshiper than I did as a leader.
I don't usually like to be too outwardly spiritual, but I thought it was important to share with you what this song means to me. The words to this song are basically something God revealed to me when I was over there, and I decided to put it to music and share it with you. Unlike my previous EP, this song isn't me singing to God, this song is me speaking out what I felt God was saying to me as He reminded me who I am. I really hope that this resonates with some of you the way it does with me.
- Special thanks to Mum and Dad for making it possible for me to visit Bethel, my band mates in Départe for having patience with me while I worked on this instead of working on writing Départe songs (sorry guys), Joanna Finchum for heading up our revival group while I was over there and creating so many opportunities for God to remind me who I am, Amanda Cook for making me cry every time we sang one of your new songs, and finally Luke Hendrickson and Chris Greeley, who work in the audio dept. of Bethel church, for the mixing tips and tricks I learned from you that I tried to implement in this recording. It's not perfect, but it feels like an improvement! Thanks guys.
